How to be both by Ali Smith. Amazing book, which I may have to re-read soon. It is about being both, and ambiguity is suggested and declared. Told simultaneously through two story threads that interweave, sometimes within the same paragraph. About a fresco painter during the Renaissance,(1460’s in Italy) and then from the perspective of a 17/18 year old girl during the 1970’s. Very creative and emotionally engaging, but the focus is on both threads “being both” – so it’s not a good book to slog through before bed if you are tired, you need to stay alert.
